1. Arsenal
I believe Arsenal will retain the title. With the amount of change going on with their rivals, the impressive community shield victory over Manchester City and the defensive solidity still there. Mikel Arteta has grown season upon season and is only going to continue to learn how to win. I think the only way is for them to retain the position.
2. Chelsea
With the appointment of Xabi Alonso, the various additions to the team and the fact they have just one game a week to focus on, I have Chelsea challenging for the title. This may be a shock to some however, Alonso comes into Chelsea as a Bundesliga winner and a great tactician. They have a young core as well as adding the much needed experience in the summer with the likes of Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson to help the dressing room.
3. Manchester City
This may come as a surprise however, with the loss of Pep Guardiola, the eventual loss of Rodri and not many more additions in the transfer window I think they will have a real tough time this season. Enzo Maresca comes in as a very inexperienced manager and has a massive task on his hands.
4. Manchester United
I believe that Manchester United in 4th is still a good season for them. I believe that Carrick has good tactics. However, I do believe that they may run into some troubles trying to juggle multiple competitions. They were impressive last season with only one game a week and on one occasion one game in a month. I believe also that they did not strengthen the depth of the squad enough this could pose an issue.
5. Liverpool
I believe even now writing this, this could be too high if not for one man and that is Andoni Iriola. Liverpool’s squad depth is in ruins right now and it seems that they may lose even more players. With Champions League and other competitions to play this could cause them major concern. However, with a new man at the helm who had a very impressive season last season with Bournemouth I believe he could and will get Liverpool into the fifth position.
6. Tottenham
I believe people may deem this as a wild shout as well. However, with Spurs strengthening their midfield this summer with 2 players worth 185 million pounds, the eventual signing of Savinho from Man City and a great manager in De Zerbi I believe they can truly push for the European spots. As well as only having one game a week, sixth place is not unrealistic.
7. Crystal Palace
I believe this will be a very interesting take because they have lost Oliver Glasner. However, I believe that with the appointment of Pierre Sage who had a great season with Lens in League 1 last season, they can be a real surprise. I also believe they have not lost anyone in their squad of major significance except for Maxence Lacroix. I believe that with no Europe and a great squad they can make a real push for Europe.
8. Aston Villa
Villa have finished in the Champions League places twice in the last three seasons, so eighth might actually be harsh. However, with European football, losing key players in Morgan Rogers and Lucas Digne and not bringing in anyone of the same quality it might not be as good as they hoped. Eighth may actually be too high but with a good coach in Emery he could save them.
9. Nottingham Forest
This may come as a surprise as well. However, with a good coach in Glasner he could over achieve. I do believe that losing Elliot Anderson could come with repercussions. However, they were able to retain someone like Morgan Gibbs-White and have not lost anyone else of major significance. They also do not have European Football and that could really help their cause.
10. Leeds United
This could be a surprise as well but, I think Leeds have had a good transfer window thus far and they have a solid foundation. They have Daniel Farke who halfway through last season changed his tactics up and had Leeds playing great football. I’m not predicting Europe, but I think they comfortably survive and finish comfortably in the middle of the pack.
11. Brighton
I think this one is straight forward, they haven’t lost anyone significant bar Van Hecke and Danny Welbeck. I do not think those two are enough to really change a lot. They do have European football but I think that they have decent depth to keep them just in eleventh.
12. Everton
I think Everton are finally moving toward stability. They’re not ready to challenge the European places, but I don’t see them being dragged into another relegation fight. I think Moyes is a good coach and they have solid players in Pickford, Branthwaite and Ndaiye that can help them gain stability.
13. Sunderland
This could be interesting because Sunderland finished seventh after promotion and qualified for the Europa League. The problem is that European football can make life extremely difficult for a relatively thin squad. I think they take a step backward domestically but still stay up comfortably.
14. Fulham
I think that this one is a normal call as well. I think that they have mostly the same squad and have also appointed an up and coming manager in Arbeloa, I think they could actually finish higher. However, they tend to stay in and around this position so I do not think much will change.
15. Brentford
Brentford are another club where I’m expecting a small regression rather than a collapse. Their recruitment model should keep them competitive, but I don’t see them threatening the top half. I think this is a good position and I think that with Keith Andrews who overperformed last season and Igor Thiago who had 20 plus goals last season they could also be higher if things shift.
16. Bournemouth
This is one of my crazier predictions. However, I think that after losing Iriola and also not adding many players they could really struggle. I also think that with Eli Kroupi Junior being out for a few months with injury and the underwhelming appointment of Marco Rose who had an underwhelming season at Leipzig last season this could be an issue.
17. Newcastle
This is by far my most interesting prediction. But, I do not think it is as crazy as people think. With Newcastle losing the likes of Sandro Tonali, their captain Bruno Guimaraes, Anthony Gordon and also being rejected by the likes of Pierre Hojberg and Johan Manzambi they are in trouble. They have also lost their long term manager in Eddie Howe who did have a bad season last season but, they have just not recruited well enough and I think this is a big problem.
18. Coventry City
I think that Coventry could survive but, I do think that they do not have a strong squad. We have seen manager Frank Lampard in the premier league before and it did not end well. They have also not added any outstanding players so I think that they will be the last team to go down.
19. Ipswich Town
This is not surprising, they have not added anyone of significance bar Julio Enciso from Strasburg. I do think that Gary O’Neil gives Ipswich a fighting chance, but I think the squad ultimately isn’t good enough for 38 Premier League games. They’ll probably have some huge wins, but consistency will kill them.
20. Hull City
This is by far the easiest prediction of them all. This isn’t just because they’re newly promoted. They came through the playoff route after finishing sixth in the Championship, and the jump from that position to the Premier League is enormous. They have no money to spend and I think they truly could be the worst side the premier league has seen. They could be relegated faster than Wolves last season.
